The Astrology Of The COVID-19 Coronavirus: Tips to Reduce Anxiety

“If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.”
— Marcus Aurelius

(Note: Will add to this article when I find time to investigate it more)

Many of you are messaging for an astrological perspective on this game-changing Coronavirus experience we are all having collectively.

This is a brief aspect timeline for you astrology buffs that might help bring some perspective in this time of uncertainty. I will also offer up some guidance for you fellow empaths and other sensitives who suffer from anxiety.

Before we dive into the astrology, it is really important that whether you fear this virus or not, there are people in the world that are vulnerable and anything we can do to help slow the spread so that those on the front lines can handle it is important. This virus is “viral” and spreads fear as well. So, anything we can do to minimize the fears and help those in survival mode with even-mindedness in this time is good work.

Get to the point

For those of you who don’t want to read this entire post.

No, it is not the end of world.
Yes, it will get more widespread before it gets better.
Yes, it is good we are on lockdown (Saturn).
Yes, there will be many discoveries and medicines (Pluto).
Yes, it will have pauses and sudden changes.
Yes, it will be a problem on and off until next year.

Various therapies may be found. Isolation and lockdowns work collectively. There are dates where there are breakthroughs and there is hopeful news. Possible changes in the virus and/or new or repurposed medicines. We will be under this influence and aftereffects of this until the end of the year on and off and maybe even a bit into a second year because of the economic and political ramifications.

Dates to observe shifts:

March 30
April 6.14,15,16
December 21, 2020

Most important thing to do right now

Face the Fear

Besides all the staying home and physical distancing and boosting health, the most important thing to work on right now as Saturn and Pluto are together is to DEAL WITH FEAR. Seriously, it’s the number one thing to do right now. It can’t be Netflixed, drugged or distracted away. As long as fear (Saturn) overwhelms us we can be controlled (Pluto) and become victims (Neptune) of circumstance. If you are feeling fear every other second, then every other second do something to face it. You will see after 100 or so times of this you will get some momentum, like meditation and it will become easier and easier.

The Astrology of 2020

We were all waiting to see what that rare Saturn and Pluto conjunction in Capricorn would stir up in January 2020. Well, now we know what it is.

This is marker in history. In the future, it will be life before 2020 and life after 2020. And we probably won’t know the entire story until the next Saturn Pluto conjunction in 2054.

The very hard part of this entire event is being played out right now by Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto and the Node in Capricorn. There will be another stellium of aspects like this but in Aquarius in January 2021 which will deal with the societal and collective changes that this event sparked. So the socio-economic effects (which in the long-term will make things better for all of us) will be confronting their first test in January 2021.

There are enough Western and Vedic astrologers online who have dissected the aspects. We will look at the general chart of the times and not the chart of the virus. There really isn’t an exact date anyway. The virus most likely started in November or even earlier and not when it was declared officially. And the virus is just a player in this grand scheme. This historic moment has been building since Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008.

Why So Much Fear, Death Anxiety and Why Are We All Scared Shitless?

Our mass reaction to this episode and the cascading chain of events that has effectively locked down the entire world at the same time is what is particularly interesting about this situation more so than the virus itself.

If we consider that 646,000 people die of the flu each year. 400,000 of malaria, 150,000 measles and 120,000 of cholera, why aren’t we in lockdown and freaked out about that? Our brains are not very good at separating community risk from personal risk, especially when entire countries pronounce lockdowns (since they statistically worked in the past). Just small changes to our routines are enough to trigger anxiety – “lockdowns” are major fear triggers.

Then There was Fog

Mercury ends the Post-Shadow on March 30 in Pisces. Mercury retrograding in Pisces and that Sun-Neptune conjunction didn’t help clarity either. Neptune on a lower level can create denial, delusion, mixed messages, lying and general confusion. It gives this vibe of the “unknown” and “unknowable”. There was and still is a lot of that going around. You can see below we won’t be out of the Pisces fog until April 17, 2020. Let’s be gentle with each other because it is hard to see in the fog.

Mercury Feb 10, 2019 10:50 Pisces – I
Mercury Mar 05, 2019 18:19 Pisces – S/R
Mercury Mar 28, 2019 13:58 Pisces – S/D
Mercury Apr 17, 2019 05:56 Aries – I

We also are all collectively suffering from an extreme dose of death anxiety (Pluto) at the same time (Saturn). We must worry most about our elders (Saturn). Not in one country “over there” but worldwide and at relatively the same time (Saturn). In one fell swoop, the structures and weaknesses of our hospitals, governments and healthcare systems (Saturn) are exposed (Pluto). Can we fix it?

The Saturn and Pluto Stress Test

Saturn takes around 29 years to complete its orbit around the Sun and Pluto requires 248 years. Saturn-Pluto came together in January. It was the start of their new 34-year cycle.

Saturn and Pluto are more than just “a rock and a hard place” – it’s like a rock (Saturn the God of Time and Structure) in a Pressure Cooker (Pluto the God of the underworld).

Pluto is the bringer of truth. Whatever survives his powerful, probing, focused and controlled stun gun is transformed, reformed, obliterated or resurrected. He goes deep into the truth of what is real. Often bringing up painful but cathartic truths both psychologically, physically and in our inter-relationships. Pluto is a controlled unrelenting pressure like a stress test. Pluto is associated with nuclear power on the material level, but his true function is to find the deeper power within ourselves. It is this shift from trying to control our external world and external resources by force to finding the power within that is its true focus. We will become very aware of thought patterns and attitudes that are a distortion of Pluto’s true meaning and what power is.

These two don’t meet often. The two planets meet approximately every 33–38 years.

1914-1915 – Three Saturn-Pluto conjunctions in Cancer
1947 – Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Leo
1982 – Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Libra

And for you history buffs, they don’t meet in Capricorn often either

Saturn and Pluto are done with all the societal and political structures that were birthed in 1982. Whatever can’t sustain growth will be restructured or collapse. It is the beginning of a new cycle that regulates who is in power (Pluto) and where resources (Saturn) are most needed. And who controls it (Pluto) and where it will be redistributed to build the economy (Saturn). We won’t know the outcome of this until a lot later.

Timeline of the Purge

Here is the timeline so you get an idea of how long this transformation lasts

Start: Dec 22, 2018 Capricorn
Exact: Jan 12, 2020 Capricorn 23° (0.70° orb)
End: Jan 31, 2021 Aquarius & Capricorn

Whatever new structures are birthed and transformed now will be fulfilled in the next triple conjunction of 2053-2054

June 15, 2053
July 10, 2053
February 2, 2054

Saturn in Capricorn

For those new to astrology, Saturn is the “crystallizer”. Even though there are a lot of processes before something becomes physical, Saturn’s function makes it solid -“makes it real” in time and space. He’s the one we look at mostly when we make predictions for physical events.

Right now, Saturn is in his kingdom. He rules in Capricorn. He has been in his kingdom since 2017 and will be soon leaving for Aquarius where he co-rules.

Dec 19, 2017, 11:49 PM EST Saturn enters Capricorn
Mar 21, 2020, 11:58 PM EDT Saturn enters Aquarius
Jul 1, 2020, 7:37 PM EDT Saturn Rx enters Capricorn
Dec 17, 2020, 12:04 AM EST Saturn enters Aquarius

This was good news. When a planet is in his home, he is strong. Imagine it was like Saturn returned home to his kingdom after spending some 30+ years rounding the zodiac. He collected a lot of ‘intel” on his journey. When he returns home to see what is left of his kingdom, Pluto was already there (2008 – 2023) having already tested half of Saturn’s structures. Pluto left whatever could survive the test of truth standing and still has a way to go.

Later the Lunar Nodes (November 2018- May 2020) visited, and Jupiter (December 2, 2019, until December 19th, 2020) and finally Mars most recently (February 16, 2020 – March 30, 2020) pays a visit.

The kingdom of Capricorn wants something enduring. It is looking at the long game. It will deny itself short-term pleasures. It has the energy of business, governments, economy. In the cycle of life, it takes all the lessons learned from Aries to Sagittarius and figures out what best would work for the greatest number of people.

Thank God We Are Taking Action: Mars in Capricorn

Mars in Capricorn

Mars who just entered Capricorn on February 16 is “exalted” in Capricorn. It means he really does well in there. He does well because he is the drive and desire to accomplish something physical. Capricorn wants to build structures. Mars here gets to accomplish something enduring and meaningful for the greatest number of people. Mars here doesn’t just win an Olympic medal for running fast but gets the opportunity to build something that will change the course of history.

Mars has a short distance to travel in Capricorn to conjunct Jupiter on March 20th and Pluto on March 23rd.

Now, these dates below are really important. Because this is where the action is. These are the dates that constructive action will take place in our governments and economies. Mars will implement “the plan”.

March 20 – Mars in Capricorn conjunct Jupiter in Capricorn
March 22 – Mars in Capricorn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn
March 26 – Moon in Aries square Mars in Capricorn
March 28 – Moon in Taurus trine Mars in Capricorn
March 30 – Mars enters Aquarius

Keep an eye on when Mars joins Saturn in Aquarius on March 30th and conjoin at 0 Aquarius on March 31st. Once Mars passes this point there will be a huge shift in the vibe surrounding this situation.

Will Medicine Come to the Rescue? Jupiter-Pluto

Jupiter in astrology is the planet of wisdom, knowledge and expansion.

Pluto is like a microscope it makes “small things big”. Alexander Fleming who discovered penicillin had Mars, Jupiter, Pluto conjunct in his natal chart.

Jupiter in mythology is the son of Saturn and brother of Pluto. He tended to always win against both.

Jupiter catches up with Pluto in March-April 2020 and expands Pluto’s truth and discoveries, both in the collective and on an individual level.

Jupiter rules doctors and professionals and Pluto rules modern medicines.

Jupiter-Pluto aspects have coincided with times with major discoveries on a microscopic level.

1590 Libra-Aries
The invention of the Microscope
1930-1931 Cancer
The invention of the Electron Microscope
1969 Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto Virgo-Libra
Space Telescopes

Though Jupiter-Pluto conjunctions have to do with extreme wealth and big business. A lot of the super-wealthy have this aspect somewhere. If it were just Jupiter-Pluto it would have this vibe of Big Pharma only. But being in sensible Capricorn with mature Saturn and actionable Mars there as well points to correct action and sober decisions. Doing the right thing. Pluto also re-purposes what already exists. So, they may discover we already have drugs to conquer this or rather they already have the drugs to treat this.

Jupiter conjunct Pluto
April 5th: Jupiter 24 Capricorn conjunct Pluto 24 Capricorn
June 30th: Jupiter 24 Capricorn conjunct Pluto 24 Capricorn
November 12th Jupiter 22 Capricorn conjunct Pluto 22 Capricorn

Not Too Fast: Some Adjustments Because of Jupiter Retrograde

June 30th: Jupiter 24 Capricorn conjunct Pluto 24 Capricorn
November 12th Jupiter 22 Capricorn conjunct Pluto 22 Capricorn
Extra time is needed to take stock and make sure everything in order (Venus will also be in square to foggy Neptune).

Will the Virus Mutate?
Sun and Venus retrograde square Mars conjunct Neptune in early June.

Other Jupiter Transits
Jupiter-Saturn November 2, 2020, Capricorn ending of the previous Jupiter-Saturn cycle and initiates new 20-year cycle.

Those Karmic Lunar Nodes

Those Lunar Nodes are probably the most important thing to discuss. The Nodes tell the karmic story of where we are coming from and where we are going. We will save this story for another post.

The Nodes were in Cancer and Capricorn from November 7th, 2018 and May 5th, 2020.

The 19-year cycle resounds to events from April 10th, 2000 to October 13th, 2001.

North Node in Cancer has to do with household, family, hometown or homeland (Pulling back now and isolating, connecting more with our family, uncovering family dynamics)

South Node in Capricorn must do big business, government, the establishment and high society (old ways of power)

Moon and Saturn were the drivers.

Let’s just say they will leave Cancer and Capricorn and enter the signs of Gemini and Sagittarius on May 5 of 2020.

It means Mercury and Jupiter will be our guides to our collective fate and not the present Moon and Saturn. That is a big shift in who’s controlling the threads of Fate. So, keep an eye on May 5th. It would also be good to keep an eye on Jupiter in Aquarius on December 19 and begins to apply toward a conjunction with Saturn in Aquarius on December 21. Pluto-Jupiter and Saturn are a lot of reforms in economics globally.

Since Mercury will be leading the North Node from May 5th on then let’s keep an eye on these retrograde periods for developments and clues to what is brewing in the future.

June 19th, 2020 (Gemini) – July 11th, 2020 (Cancer)
October 16th, 2020 (Libra) – November 2nd, 2020 (Scorpio)

Please note since Jupiter and Mercury rule international travel, vacations and trade. These are going to be a lot of issues, new laws, and media announcements after May 5 and up until January 24th-27th 2021. My friends in tourism, hang in there!

Renaissance in Technology: Jupiter–Saturn Conjunction at 0° Aquarius

Saturn enters Aquarius on March 22 until the end of June.

There is a new conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn on December 21, 2020, at the first degree of Aquarius.

We will be moving out of the Earth energy in Air and those Air conjunctions will continue for many years. It will be the beginning of a cultural renaissance in a way but not without many challenges. Values change to intellectual, technological and artistic pursuits.

In 2021 the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn will all be in early Aquarius – all will square Uranus in January 2021

Jupiter squaring Uranus in Taurus will be bringing a series of shocks (Uranus). Radical changes in our political structures and economics and currencies.

It will not be easy going since squares force us to change but by then we will have turned the first corner into a new way of living. After January we should all be making adjusting to a new way of life.

Self Help & Anxiety

It helps to name some of the stuff coming up.

Realizing how busy we were and slowing down.
Quieter time to deal with things we have abandoned
Realizing our priorities. Clarifying what is important.
Fears to be conquered
Fear of spending time alone with ourselves.
Fear of each other
Fear of death
Fear of suffering
Forced to deal with people
Lots of emotions we don’t understand or never realized
Lots of family dynamics exposed
Friend dynamics exposed
Painful realizations

What happens when we lose our routines?

  • We experience various levels of shock
  • surge of adrenalin
  • jittery or physically sick
  • mind fog
  • disorientation and disassociation
  • muscle tightness, chest tightness
  • anger
  • fight or flight response

It takes around 20 minutes to an hour for stress hormones to subside.

Suggest CBD or some Bach Rescue Remedy to carry in your pocket.

Remember your body is well equipped to deal with flight and fight hormones. The deal is to make sure you do something to calm yourself in the first wave and nip it in the bud. Otherwise, you will fear the fear in a vicious cycle, and it might go on for hours or days.

Other symptoms are vulnerability, fear, disorientation, terror, confusion and overwhelm. Realizations of lack of support in life. No escape from people and family situations that are enervating.

That’s a lot to handle.

Empaths and Mass Consciousness

If you’re an empath, this is going to be an even tougher ride. Since we live in an ocean of consciousness, you are going to feel more than normally strange during the day with the vibes of mass anxiety, fear and doom. It may come in unexpected spurts of crazy anxiety for no reason. Even if you aren’t around people. You will feel your family and friend’s anxiety even from a distance. Supermarkets now are unbearable for non-empaths, so for you, it is going to be worse. You will need extra measures to ground yourself and that may be hard on lockdown especially if you can’t walk outside or get in touch with Nature. It is an opportunity to up your “connect to Self” muscles and your mindfulness and stay in the present moment. Some of us lazy empaths use distraction and substances to deal with the psychic onslaught and with those routines not available now it is a real test to see if you have real psychic fortitude to be mindful and switch your consciousness at will. Don’t be hard on yourself that you can’t keep the balance now. It is hard to hear the voice of your soul when the people next to you and the entire world is blasting massive fear vibes.

Judgements of Those in Survival Mode

Do not judge people in survival mode. When fear or panic strikes the amygdala in the brain switches to reptilian brain functioning. People will not have access to their frontal cortex or rational thinking. Anything we can do to calm others to help “flip the amygdala switch” will be helpful. Remind them that what they are feeling is an automatic response. Help them calm down. Once they do the brain can function normally. Check-in with yourself if you are getting angry with people in survival mode. There may be some subconscious fear they are mirroring for you. If people like this are freaking you out, it may not be the time for you to help people. So, remove yourself from the situation. Find a private space so you can take time to settle yourself.

Social Media Feeds and News Reports

Be very careful of your social media feed. It is insidious how tempting it is to go down the rabbit hole here. There is no way to distance yourself from this. Even personal emails are full of subject headers with Coronavirus. You can’t even search on YouTube or Google without seeing that word everywhere. Notice how anxiety will creep up on you. You may have just liked a friend’s encouraging post and then suddenly be filled with fear because your eye skimmed a few panic posts. It will take great vigilance to stay connected to your friends and be able to scan online media. Take breaks and center.
