26 Jul Neville Goddard Lectures: “Twelve Hundred and Sixty Days”
9/13/68
Tonight’s title is “Twelve Hundred and Sixty Days.” The Old Testament is a prophetic blueprint of the life of Jesus. According to a rabbinical principle what is not written in scripture—and by scripture the rabbi means the Old Testament—does not exist. The life of Jesus follows this principle: He said, “I have come to fulfill scripture.” He makes no attempt to change the world of Caesar: “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s” (Mark 12:17). He makes no attempt whatsoever to change the social order…leave it just as it is for man to make all the mistakes that he wants and live as he wants. He only comes to fulfill scripture. Well, this is where we come in tonight with one thousand two hundred and sixty days.
You will read it in the last chapter of the Book of Daniel and you will read it in the 12th chapter of the Book of Revelation. Daniel confesses that he did not understand it. He said, “A man stood clothed in linen above the water, and he said to me, “Daniel, close the words of the book and seal it until the time of the end” (Dan. 12:4). And I asked him, “How long shall it be to the end of these wonders?” and he said, ‘A time, two times, and half a time’” (12:7). Well, in Hebrew measurement, “a time” is a year, and they spoke of a year as 360 days; so we have three years at 360, and half a year or 180 days, or twelve hundred and sixty days. Daniel said, “I heard, but I did not understand.” He said, “Daniel, go your way, for the book is closed and sealed until the time of the end” (verse 9). First of all, he isn’t told when to start reckoning, just told it’s going to take twelve hundred and sixty days to complete the signs and wonders. But when you start counting he’s not told.
In the Book of Revelation we are told, “I saw in the heavens a great wonder, a woman clothed with the sun, standing on the moon, and twelve stars in the crown on her head; she was in labor, in great pain. She brought forth a male child…and the child was caught up to the throne of God. She fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her and provided for her, for one thousand two hundred and sixty days” (Rev. 12:1-6). When you read it, the New Testament gives us the clue. We start the count with the birth of the child.
Now the manner of Jesus’ birth is—for those who know who he is—a sign of the divine initiative in our redemption. Who is Jesus? You’ve heard the story unnumbered times and you think of another. You think of some man who lived long since, almost 2,000 years ago. You think of him as one who really was born 2,000 years ago, and that’s Jesus. All the teachers of the world who teach the story tell the same thing. Let me tell you, if there is any other Jesus Christ than he who is buried within us, and who rose and continues to rise in individual men and women, he is a false Christ. False teachers talk about him as someone from without and mislead the millions who hear their story. “I carry in my body the death of Jesus”(2Cor. 4:10) and “If I have been united with him in a death like his, I shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his” (Rom. 6:5). So he rises in us individually.
Therefore, who is he? From my own personal experience, I am not theorizing, I’m not speculating, I know who he is. When you say “I am,” that’s he; that is Jesus Christ…the same name that is the name given to the Lord God Jehovah. The word Jesus is the Anglicized form of the Hebrew Joshua. It means “savior.” The only savior spoken of in scripture is the Lord God Jehovah. So when you say “I am,” that is the Lord Jesus, the same one that is the Lord God Jehovah. It is the Lord who became as we are that we may be as he is. No intermediary! God himself became as I am that I may be as he is.
This number, twelve hundred and sixty days…on July the 20th of the year 1959…the day was just like today, a normal day. I lectured in the morning to a large audience and a quiet day was spent. I called my wife around nine, retired about eleven, having read a little of the Bible and a bit of Blake, expecting nothing whatsoever other than a normal, I hoped, restful sleep. When at four in the morning a vibration that I had never experienced before, centered at the base of my skull began, and I could not arrest it. It increased in intensity and I thought now this is it! I’m not a doctor but I have read of massive brain hemorrhages and I thought now this is it. I couldn’t conceive of coming out of this, and I could not stop it; but instead, I began to awake…but I awoke as I never awoke before. I awoke to find myself in my skull, and here I am fully awake but sealed in my skull with one consuming desire to get out. I intuitively knew that if I could push the base of my skull, something would give. I did it and it gave…something rolled. And I came out inch by inch by inch as a child is born from the womb of a woman, only I was coming out from my skull instead of from the womb of a woman.
Then the entire imagery as told us in the Book of Luke and Matthew began to appear before me: The witnesses to the event, the child wrapped in swaddling clothes, and I was unseen by those who were present. They spoke of me and knew me and knew the child was my child but could not see me; for I was now clothed in an entirely different body, the body of Spirit, not flesh and blood, and they were incapable of seeing me. I not only saw them, I could discern their every thought. I knew every thought they entertained before they uttered it, because I could see it as objective to me. When that child was placed upon the bed and I raised the child and I looked into this little face, and I said, “How is my sweetheart?” it broke into the most heavenly smile. Then the whole thing was caught up and disappeared from sight. The whole thing came out of me. That’s the 20th of July, 1959.
On January the first, 1963 was the final event and that was the descent of the dove upon me. I took my Bible…I was reading it here just before I went to San Francisco recently, and every great mystical event that has a parallel in scripture I have written the date next to that passage in scripture. So next to the passage concerning resurrection I have that July 20, 1959. It’s one side of the coin, because the same night was the birth. So against the passage giving the birth of Christ, which is the Son of God who is one with God, I wrote the date.
I wrote the date of the 6th of December, 1959 when a similar vibration this time exploded my head, and standing before me is David of biblical fame and David is calling me Father. I know he is my son and I know I am his Father, and we know this mutual relationship. So, on the 89th Psalm I wrote next to the passage, “I have found David. He has cried unto me, ‘Thou art my Father, my God, and the Rock of my salvation,’” (verse 26) and these are the words of the Lord speaking. I wrote it there on that 6th day of December, 1959.
On the 8th day of April, the following year, 1960, a bolt of lightning splits me in two from the top of my head to the base of my spine, and I part like this, separate, and here the entire body is split in two. Then like a serpent I go like some spiral lightning back into my skull, and the whole thing reverberates as though the whole thing is being shattered. Against the passage at the end of the story, “And the temple of the Lord, the curtain of the Lord was split, from top to bottom in two” (Mat. 27:51). Now he tells you, “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up” (John 3:14). So against these passages I wrote that 8th day of April, 1960.
Here recently, in the first week of July, I was reading the Book of Daniel getting some thoughts together, because I’m on my way to San Francisco to start a series of lectures on the 15th of July. So sitting alone in my living room with my Bible in my hand, I did not hear the voice, I saw no one, but I knew it as though as of old, as though memory returned. I knew that if I counted the days between July the 20th of 1059 and January the 1st of 1960 I would get one thousand, two hundred and sixty days. So I took my Bible and made these dates just as I have given them to you. I went over these things two, three, a dozen times, trying to disprove what I’m seeing with my eyes. From the first, which is the birth, or resurrection and birth to that second event which is the discovery of David, and therefore the fatherhood of God, was 139 days; from that day to the next, 123 days; and then from that to the 1st of January, 1963, 998 days. I totaled them: One thousand, two hundred and sixty days…the pattern…the pattern man. “Go and tell it.”
Now, who would have thought something written 600 years B.C. concerning a date…now we do not have the same calendar that the ancients had; they divided their year into 360 days and divided it into twelve equal parts of thirty days each. I did not use the ancient calendar, I used our modern calendar where we have thirty days, thirty-one days and twenty-eight days, and taking our modern calendar it comes out 1,260 days. Change it as you will…if tomorrow someone rises and changes the calendar again it’s going to come out 1,260 from the birth of God in man to the descent of the Holy Spirit upon man sealing the entire agreement. Now, against that passage I wrote, which you’ll find in the 61st chapter of Isaiah, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because he has anointed me; he has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives, and to open the doors of those who are in prison” (verse 1). Against that, I wrote Jan. 1st, 1963. I could say with the central character of scripture, “This day scripture has been fulfilled.” He closes the book and gives it back to the attendant. So I know who Christ is, because I did not have any change of identity, clothed in an entirely different garment, a garment unseen by mortal eye, a garment so powerful, a being so powerful you cannot compare anything on earth to it. For, here is now not an animated form, it’s a life-giving Spirit. It animates the forms round about him or can stop them and let them all stand still.
So I knew then who Christ was, for I too was taught as a Christian that he was a man outside of me. I read in the scripture, “I carry in my body the death of Jesus,” but it meant nothing, just words. But “If I am united with him in a death like his, I shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his” (Rom. 6:5). Just words, for I was taught over and over and it was reiterated, he is another one, something different, not this simple humanity. I didn’t realize his love was for simple humanity. His friends were the sinners. He took upon himself the form of man, all of its weaknesses, all of its limitations. But this was not the sign for which the rabbis of the day were looking. He was a normal man. They expected some fantastic being to come out of space and lead Israel out of its imprisonment, out of its misery, and then enslave those that had enslaved Israel, and that is not the story. He becomes man; and then at one moment in time when the time is fulfilled he erupts within man in these four mighty acts. So I have taken all the other experiences of the Old Testament that I have experienced and I have written in the day…but these are the four important ones.
When we are told he sat upon the mount of Olives and they asked him, “When will you come? What will be the signs of your coming?” (Mat. 24:3). Then they pointed out the wonderful buildings. He said, “You see these buildings? I tell you not one stone will be left standing upon another that will not be thrown down” (Mark 13:2). That’s when you’ll know. Well, on the 21st of December, 1960 I came upon this fantastic city of buildings, tall wonderful buildings, and I knew as I looked at a building it would tumble. Not only tumble but it would fulfill scripture…every stone fell, not one was left standing upon the other…that one, that one, every one. So against this prophecy in the 24th chapter of Matthew and the 13th of Mark I wrote that date. Others came after the 1,260 days.
I wrote them in, but the important ones are these four. A dual one the first: Resurrection and birth. The second, a single one: The discovery of David who calls you Father. Now, who would have thought a man living in the 20th Century is the Father of one who history has recorded who lived 1,000 years B.C.? That’s 3,000 years ago. This eternal youth…there is no other way that God could give himself to me and to you, and prove that he gave himself to us equally unless he gave us his only begotten son, who is David. Now when David calls me Father and he calls you Father, are we not one? We will never know that we are one unless we have one son, and the son calls us Father. He is my son and he’s Benny’s son, he is the son of a dozen of you here that you know, for you’ve had the experience. He will one day rise in the life of everyone, and everyone will know that he or she is the Father. Now, may I tell you, don’t think it’s strange you a lady will know you’re the Father, you will. There is only the Father. And sex belongs only on this level. When these things happen, it’s in a region remote from this level, above the organization of sex, so you will not think it’s strange when he calls you Father. For, you’re neither male nor female; you’re man and God is man. So you’ll see this wonderful son in fulfillment of the 2nd Psalm, “And I will tell of the decree of the Lord,” said David. “He said unto me, ‘Thou art my son, today I have begotten thee’” (verse 7).
From that day on…not David but when the child appears…you count the days and you can put your finger on it…that day the dove is going to descend. He makes no mistake. The book is literally true. It’s not concerned with the world of Caesar. If tomorrow you rose to the heights in this world and got all the honors of the world, it will turn to ash. It means nothing. Oh yes, apply it while you’re here, live graciously. But I tell you, only as you fulfill scripture have you really fulfilled God’s purpose. And it comes suddenly, like a thief in the night. I had no idea that that night of the 20th of July of 1959 would differ from all other nights, had not the slightest idea that the story was mine. So when Jesus interprets the Old Testament with himself as the very center of it, he is doing correctly. Well, who is Jesus?—your own wonderful human I-am-ness, that’s Jesus. There never was another Jesus and there never will be one, and those who teach another they are false teachers teaching a false Christ…there is no other.
Now here, we all share our visions. You say what is the sacrifice where God sacrificed himself, as told us in the Book of Genesis in the most beautiful form? Isaac said to Abraham, “Father, I see the fire and I see the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” Abraham answered his son, he said, “The Lord will provide himself the lamb” (Gen. 22:8). He is the lamb, he will provide himself…no earthly sacrifice…God will sacrifice himself, that will be the great offering. Well, about two weeks ago just before we retired one night my wife said to me, “I can’t go to bed tonight unless I tell you what has been disturbing me all day, I’ve been carrying it all day. It was so vivid it was not like a dream, it wasn’t even a vision it was so vivid. I have never seen you so radiantly healthy…same Neville, the man that is my husband, but here you are radiantly healthy. And you are actually carrying in your hands yourself, and it was the same kind of a limp body that we find in Michelangelo’s Pieta only he is on the lap of Mary. But you are carrying yourself and the same form; it’s you but it is dead—you the living, the radiant, and you the one that was sacrificed.” And she said, “I can’t go to bed tonight unless I tell you, for it has some tremendous significance. What it is I don’t know, but it has disturbed me all day.” So I told her it didn’t really mean what someone would think, the boy is just dead. It has tremendous spiritual significance. It showed her the only way that you could ever awake. You yourself became…you are God…you yourself became this man in this world for a divine purpose, and at the very end you see the symbol of what you did, you died. It’s the story of the seed: “Unless a seed falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone, but if it dies it brings forth much” (John 12:24).
And so, the seed of God is God. So Jesus Christ is the sperm of God, the seed of God, the very image of God. That’s Jesus Christ buried in man. He will come out one day in the form I’ve just revealed to you, and he will be reflecting the glory of God the Father and bearing the very image, the very stamp of his person…only God…can’t be any other. In the end there is only Jesus. So we are told when the law is completely fulfilled they went into transfiguration: Moses appeared, Elijah appeared. Moses is the personification of law; Elijah the personification of the prophets. But all of the promises of God find their yes in Jesus. So when he completely unfolds, fulfilling all prophecy, fulfilling all promises, they vanish and Jesus only. That’s the story.
So you’re told in Zechariah, “And the Lord will be king over all the earth and the Lord will be one and his name one” (14:9). In the end only one—all of us without loss of identity forming one body, one Spirit, one Lord, one God and Father of all, not two, just one. That will be the great unity of being, without any loss of identity. I will know you in eternity… know you far more intimately than I can ever know you here. For, this is a mask. You’re wearing a mask, like a theatrical mask or some masquerade. What is behind the mask? That’s the being I will know in eternity; and yet I’ll know you as myself and we all form the one body, the one Spirit, the one Lord, the on God and Father of all.
But who reading this story would think for one moment that it should be taken literally and fulfilled literally? And yet, I know from my own experience I fulfilled it literally. Before I began to count, I knew it was going to come out 1,260 days. Here in my Bible written on the very day that it happened, one after the other. I didn’t go back and put it in; I wrote it in that Bible of mine the very day that it happened. So I took all these dates that are recorded there for anyone to see…just simply put them down and added them up…and went over the entire calendar. I did it over and over, not deliberately trying to disprove it, but I had to check it. Check it and re-check it…always came out 1,260 days.
So that’s the book of books the Bible. What is not written there is non-existent. This building will crumble, all the things you now wear you either wear them out or leave them behind you, but everything comes into this world, it waxes, it wanes and it vanishes…a world of death. Well, this is God’s eternal word that never passes away. Everyone in this world born of woman will fulfill the word of God. “My word shall not return unto me void; it must accomplish that which I purpose, and prosper in the thing for which I sent it” (Is. 55:11). And you are sent to fulfill scripture in this world, this world of death, this world of horror, for that’s what it is. The other numbers that are added all scholars are agreed they’re not found in the oldest manuscripts, but like all teachers they start off counting from some arbitrary event not knowing the event, which is the birth (from above). Revelation gives you the event to start the count. But those not waiting for the fullness of time thought now this must be the end of the day, the end of the age. No. The world goes on; you end the age, you’ve finished the job. And you can say with Paul, “The time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness” (2 Tim. 4:6). For after that dove descends there’s not a thing to do but to continue fulfilling scripture. But whether you have one more or not, it makes no difference, you have done it!
In my own case, on the 10th of October, 1966, a glorious one was fulfilled in me, and there I wrote it against the 53rd chapter of Isaiah (verse 1), “Who will believe our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” On that night, the betrayal, as told in the New Testament and the 69th Psalm—because the New Testament only fulfills the Old—and so, my friend who ate with me, ate my food, has lifted up his heel against me. Here was the betrayal that night. For those who were not present when I told this, a room not as big as this one but square like this. I’m seated on the floor, and there are twelve men seated in front of me, and I am instructing them in the word of God. I said something that caused one of them to my left to rise quickly; he rose quickly and left the room. The minute he started towards the door I knew he was going to tell what he heard to the authorities, I knew it. He had no sooner gone through the door when a tall, handsome man in his forties in a very costly outfit entered, straight as an arrow. He walked up to the very end, turned at right angles to the end, turned at right angles to the middle, and then came forward. But as he entered, he was so important that we all rose and stood at attention. Because of his position and his, well, costly robes, we knew the dignity of the man and the authority of the man, so we stood.
He came down the middle, turned and faced me. As he faced me he took a mallet, a wooden mallet, and a wooden peg and he hammered it into my shoulder. I felt every blow, but it wasn’t painful, just the impact. When he hammered that right into my shoulder then he took a circular sharp instrument and with one sweeping motion he cut off my sleeve. Then he took the end of the sleeve this way and pulled it and discarded it, revealing my entire arm, my right arm from the shoulder to the tips of the fingers. Then he stretched his arm out like this. And as he stretched his arms out, he embraced me, and kissed me on the right neck, and I kissed him on his right neck. As I did that I watched that discarded sleeve. It was the loveliest shade of the palest blue, and I knew it was a costly fabric. Then the whole thing dissolved. So “Who has believed our report and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
Now in Daniel, when he tells this story, he said, “I saw in the visions of the night, and in the clouds of heaven came one like the Son of man, and he was presented to the Ancient of Days, and to him was given dominion and authority over all people, all nations, all races, and of his reign there shall be no end.” Everyone is going to be one part of that body and that body rules everything here; so, “One body, one Spirit, one Lord, one God and Father of all” (Eph. 4:5). So the minute you are incorporated into it, you have that dominion, that authority…but not while you still wear these garments of flesh and blood. You continue wearing these garments of flesh and blood only to tell the story to encourage others to have faith and to set their hope fully upon this grace that is coming to them. The day will come, you’ll take it off. After the dove has descended it doesn’t make any difference; you’re one with the body of God forever and forever.
So here, that came on the 10th of October, 1966. It didn’t come within the 1,260 days; it came after. So I wrote it down in my Bible. But had I dropped this garment the night of the dove, it would have been perfectly all right. And here, in that story of the dove, when the whole heavens became translucent and the dove floating, say, twenty or twenty-two feet above my head…the dove was floating. It made no motion with its wings to move or to sustain motion…it floated. Well, if it floated, I must have been submerged and that water must have been crystal clear; for I was certainly under the dove by twenty feet and the dove was floating. So when the dove appeared to descend, it didn’t come down through water, I must have emerged as told in the story: “And when he came out of the water the dove descended upon him” (Mark 1:10). But it’s told in a way people think in terms of the average water that we have. This is crystal clear water, so translucent that you do not know that it is liquid. How many of us know that we are actually living at the bottom of an ocean of air? You don’t see air; you see what it does with things and you feel it but you don’t see it. We’re actually living at the bottom of an ocean of air. Well, in the spiritual sense we are in the flood. So we go down and when the dove appears, he floats, and then you emerge from the water and the dove then takes your finger and smothers you in kisses. So the 1,260 days recorded in the Old Testament, and a cue given to us in Revelation, I’ve told you this night exactly how it happens.
I received a few calls, two today…one lady said, “You must have made a mistake in the card you sent me.” I said in what sense? She said, “Tonight’s title, could that be a title, “Twelve Hundred Sixty?” I said, yes, that’s the title. “Well, what does it mean?” “Come to the lecture. It’s going to take me an hour to tell those who are going to come to the lecture, and I haven’t one hour to spare on the telephone. You want me to tell you what 1-2-6-0 means, come to the lecture.” Well, she didn’t think she could or she would, it didn’t appeal to her. I said, “Then why even attempt to tell you what it means? I think if you came you would like it if you like scripture.” I do not know the lady. I’m quite sure that she didn’t come. And the other one who called, he didn’t come. But they wanted me to give them a talk on the telephone concerning one thousand two hundred sixty. So I only added to her information the word “days.” I said, “It really means 1,260 days.” “Well then, what days? For me?” I said, “No, not for you only, but that’s all I can tell you now. Goodbye.”
So here, tonight you’ve heard a mystery that I personally have not read in any book that I’ve ever read. I never heard it. I can say with Paul, I wasn’t taught it, I never heard it; it came through a series of revelations. And a revelation is simply an act of God in self-revealing. That’s all a revelation is. I know that these conclusions were not reached philosophically by some long reflection on things that I had heard people say or things that I had read. It came suddenly like a thief in the night, when the whole thing was unveiled within me and I was always the central figure. So when he interprets scripture and puts himself as the very center of it, he has to: “In the volume of the book it is written about me” (Ps. 40:7; Heb. 10:7). Everyone reading the book can say, in the volume of the book it is all about me. And so if it’s all about me, what’s his name? Well, he said, “If you don’t believe that I am he, you’ll die in your sins” (Jn. 8:24). It’s not some man talking to you telling you if you don’t believe in him that you will die in your sins. No, the drama is unfolding within us. Unless I believe that I am he, I die in my sins. It’s just as simple as that. I’ve got to persuade myself that I am he. Well, if the book is all about me, then when did it happen? It happened before that the world was; but now it has to happen here. So you come down into garments of flesh and blood, garments of sin. While you walk the earth in these states then it happens in some remote region of the soul.
Now let us go into the Silence.
* * *
Are there any questions, please?
Q: (inaudible)
A: In the 17th chapter of John, “All that thou gavest me I have kept…and none is lost save the son of perdition” (verse 12). Well, that is, nothing is lost but the belief in loss, that’s all. “Nothing can be lost in all my holy mountain.” It is not your Father’s will that one be lost. Well, if it isn’t God’s will that one be lost, one can’t be lost. I didn’t write that particular script and yet here that night what I said betrayed me. The drama is true. It didn’t take place here in the Near East; it takes place in a remote region of the soul. I was teaching twelve who were seated on the ground. One leaves and reports what I’ve said, and the authority comes in and hammers it into my shoulder. Well, that’s in scripture. Puts the wooden peg right into the shoulder, and then hangs upon that peg all utensils of the temple of Israel. From now on he has an authority, but he would only carry it for a while. Then he’ll break the peg and all that will be removed…the burden of that authority. You are here for a divine purpose, away beyond the wildest dream of man.
Q: (inaudible)
A: The wind is definitely present, oh yes. You don’t feel the wind in the skull. The wind only appears after you emerge from the skull. When you come out and see the body out of which you have emerged, then you rise. The wind, an unearthly wind, is taking place and you think it’s a hurricane. I thought it was coming from this direction and I turned away for just a few seconds from the body that I had observed, and when I returned the body was gone, but my three older brothers sat in the place where the body was. Two did not believe what one said, for they had heard the wind, too. One got up to investigate, and as he did so he stepped one or two paces, and he said, “Why, it’s Neville’s baby!” The other two in the most incredulous voices asked, “How can Neville have a baby?” But he didn’t argue the point…he raised the infant and put it on the bed. The wind is still unearthly and shaking the entire thing. My head is vibrating as I’ve never felt it.
Q: (inaudible)
A: No, my dear, no. This is fulfillment. See, the prophets saw as present what was future. Their vision was all foreshortened. Man has to, at the fullness of time, play the entire drama of Jesus…for there’s only Jesus in the world. In the end, there is nothing but the Lord, nothing. Everyone has to play that part. I never dreamed when I was raised in the Christian faith that the story was not secularly true. I was taught that the thing was a secular story that took place physically in this world, and no one ever disillusioned me until it happened. When it happened in me, I knew it was not an historically true, secular story. It is eternally true, but not in the secular world as the world has taught it. That’s why he makes no graven image, because how can he paint it? The thing that you’ll find in scripture that describes are characteristics of Jesus. Certainly not how tall he was, not what color of skin he was, not anything about him. He loved sinners—and who is not a sinner—so he loved sinners, and they called him a glutton and a drunkard. No, don’t go out and get drunk just to emulate him. But he was one who said he just liked the table. And that’s the one thing they’ll say of anyone who over-indulges, whether it be food or liquor or anything else, “How can he be holy?” They have their own little concept of what a holy man ought to look like. Everyone that was ever introduced to me as a “holy” man I should have started to run right away. Just the opposite of what the real spiritual man is, they are so good they’re good for nothing. It’s a fact. They want you to get down before them and bow. They’ll ask you for money then criticize you for making a lot of it, and tell you how material that is. But their hands are out this way all the time.
Q: (inaudible)
A: I don’t know. If you saw with your physical eye, well then…(she interrupts). Well, if you saw it with your eyes shut, then you’re just simply seeing a living body that really escapes this form. Had that friend of yours gone, you would have seen the thing that escaped. You cannot go to eternal death in that which can never die. But if you saw it with your physical eye, well, you saw something else. But if your eyes were closed, well then, you were seeing that living body of which man is totally unaware.
Q: (inaudible)
A: Why, yes sir. No one can fail. What we call another lifetime is simply like a stage of many acts. He makes his exit, but he hasn’t ceased to be. One departs this life to find himself restored—not reborn, restored to life—in a young body, a new body, unaccountably new. How it happens I couldn’t tell you, but I know, I see them…and they are all young, about twenty. Drop at ninety, withered and addlepated, to find themselves restored at twenty with no organ missing, nothing missing. The man who reaches 100 or ninety or eighty and he doesn’t have parts of his body that are there at birth is a very strange character indeed. But, not when you drop…you’re just instantly restored in an environment best suited for the work to be done. The Father who started the whole thing is doing the work, and he will bring it to completion. When?—“At the day of Jesus Christ.” When that whole image of himself awakes within you and you are he without loss of identity.
You tell this story as you heard it tonight. It’s a true story. I’m not going to say they’ll throw their arms around you and accept it. A friend of mine wrote me a letter that her husband took one of my books and gave it to a friend of his thinking he was helping him. The man brings the book back the next day and says, “My God tells me to tell you to burn this book.’ So her husband said, “Well, my God never tells Jim to tell John to tell me anything. I know my God and we have a direct line of communication, and he talks to me directly. He doesn’t tell Jim to tell John to tell me anything.” His God tells him, you burn this book, well, you find that same strange mentality all over the world. Hitler had it, he burned millions of books and what did he accomplish? Stalin burned books, millions of books. They’re going to rub out a thought. How stupid! Can’t rub it out! What I’ve told you this night is true, based not upon speculation, based upon my own persona experience. I know the true story for I experienced it, and yet I have all the weaknesses of the flesh. Sometimes I over-indulge and then I pay the physical price for it, so I’m not exonerated because I’ve had the experiences. This little garment will go… one night it will go or one day it will go and you’ll be told, “You know what, Neville died last night.” “Is that so? Why should he have died?” they’ll say. People will say, “Why should he die?” Why shouldn’t I? Tie me to this garment of death forever and forever? So he died. No, he rose, he lived!
So there are those tonight, eighty, ninety, senile, going into these long comas. They can afford it and they’re kept alive, pumping, pumping…like a vegetable. That’s all that it is. But I tell you, you are blessed, blessed beyond measure! You heard the story and you heard it from one who never heard it from another, one who experienced it. You dwell upon it. And let your hope be set fully upon this grace that is coming to you. It will! It will unfold within you and you’ll know who Jesus is—that you and Jesus are the same being, not another. There never was another Jesus.
Well, until the next time. Thank you.
